Data & Privacy
SmartPOST is designed to help plan targeted postal campaigns using aggregated location and audience data. We keep customer uploads focused, minimal and campaign-specific.
The short version
- SmartPOST works with address counts and area-level indicators — not named personal profiles.
- Any Eircodes or customer lists you upload are used only to plan your campaign, and are not sold or reused.
- Delivery happens by address, not by name. Nothing on your letter is personalised from our data.
Our simple data promise
Four principles that shape how SmartPOST handles the data that comes into a campaign.
Upload only what is needed
We recommend uploading Eircodes only. No names, phone numbers, email addresses or personal notes are needed for campaign planning.
Campaign planning, not personal profiling
SmartPOST uses location and audience data to understand areas.
Aggregated outputs
SmartPOST results are shown as delivery areas, counts, maps and audience profiles. Raw customer records are not shown in public outputs.
Controlled downloads
Client-facing downloads are restricted to campaign planning fields such as area ID, location, delivery counts and selected campaign information.
What SmartPOST can and cannot know.
SmartPOST works at address and small-area level. It does not profile individual people or claim to know personal details about a specific household.
SmartPOST can show
- How many selected addresses are in an area
- The breakdown of residential homes, apartments, commercial and mixed-use addresses
- Small-area demographic patterns
- Areas that are more likely to match your campaign audience
- Campaign size, delivery options and estimated cost
SmartPOST cannot claim
- Know who lives at a specific address
- Know whether one specific household owns or rents
- Know the education level of one specific person
- Know the income of one specific household
- Claim that every address in an area matches the target audience
This transparency matters. SmartPOST plans campaigns using address counts and aggregated area-level indicators — not named personal profiles.
How Customer Match works
Customer Match allows a client to upload a list of Eircodes so SmartPOST can understand where their existing customers are located and suggest similar delivery areas.
- Step 01
Upload Eircodes
Clients upload a CSV containing Eircodes only.
- Step 02
Match to locations
SmartPOST matches Eircodes to delivery areas.
- Step 03
Analyse areas
SmartPOST identifies customer clusters and common audience patterns.
- Step 04
Recommend lookalikes
SmartPOST suggests similar areas for future campaigns.
What should I upload?

How data is handled
SmartPOST is being designed so customer upload data can be processed securely and used only for the relevant campaign analysis. Customer uploads should be kept separate from public website data and should not be exposed in the browser.
For live customer campaigns, final data handling and retention processes should be agreed with the SmartPOST team before launch.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to upload customer names?
No. For most campaigns, Eircodes are enough.
Can I upload only Eircodes?
Yes. SmartPOST is designed to work from Eircode-based location analysis.
Will my customer list be shown in the proposal?
No. The proposal shows campaign areas, counts, summaries and recommendations — not raw customer records.
Does SmartPOST target individual people?
No. SmartPOST is focused on delivery areas and campaign planning.
What data appears in downloads?
Campaign downloads are restricted to planning fields such as delivery area ID, location and address counts.
Can I request deletion of uploaded campaign data?
Yes. Contact the SmartPOST team to discuss data deletion or retention requirements for your campaign.
Have a question about your data?
If you are planning a Customer Match campaign or uploading Eircodes, the SmartPOST team can explain what is needed and how your campaign data will be handled.
